Producing Inspirational Vietnamese Americans
TEDxSanJoseCA yielded Diep Vuong to talk about human trafficking. TEDxSanJoaquin brought in Vanessa Vo and LanVy Nguyen. It was seeing these Vietnamese Americans that prompted me to think about, how do we find more people like this?
We started with a Vietnamese In Philanthropy Yearbook project to start tracking nonprofit organizations. And while we found very interesting people, it was another matter to help them create a speech.
As if the universe is conspiring with us, we received a random invitation to a newly formed English-Vietnamese Toastmasters Club in San Jose, which if you’re not familiar with Toastmasters International, it is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing public speaking and leadership skills through practice and feedback in local clubs since 1924.
UVSA Northern California is about to produce its next UVSA Summit this fall. I’ve been to so many conferences that I’ve kinda taken a liking to people with compelling stories. I hope we can assist them in their endeavor to inspire others.
